Tiny flies have fascinated me for decades ... There is just something about the whole concept of something so small (a #32 v-wing midge for instance) being able to affect something as large and powerful as a 22" brown trout ! It seems preposterous that it should be the case but it is the case :) ....
My addiction to them started long ago on central Pennsylvania's Spring Creek
Size 28 (or 32) flies & 10x tippet , for many anglers , equals intimidating therefor they avoid it like the plague ! This is a shame because it can be oh so productive and it is far easier then it seems to be . Anyone can do it ! Yes they are harder to tie on and to see on the water then a #14 (we will discuss ways of dealing with this ) but they are often also far more likely to be eaten then the #14 . As with most (all ?) fears it is often best to sit back and try and take an objective look at just what it is you are afraid of and then proceed from there ...
In most cases I have found that the fear of small flies actually is directly connected to the fear of failure which is to say that most people seem to start their inner discussion on the matter with "I am probably not skilled enough to do this " rather then with "I am going to spank A LOT of good trout doing this" .
